Lyyli Living Lab is a development and testing environment for urban mobility products and services in real-life conditions. At its core is a tram equipped with specialized measurement devices, advanced communications, and a comprehensive data management and analytics system. Operations began in Tampere at the start of 2022.

The SmartRail ecosystem is driving the future of sustainable, user-centric urban mobility in Finland by combining the expertise of companies, public authorities, and research organizations. By leveraging digitalisation, advanced technologies, and human-centered design, SmartRail accelerates the development of intelligent, emission-free transport solutions such as electrified and increasingly autonomous trams and trains. Its vision is to deliver world-leading tram-integrated services and help cities transition toward smarter, more sustainable transport systems.

The Digirail project is modernising train traffic control, a largely invisible system that ensures safe and efficient train operations. It monitors speeds and guides drivers to follow signals and track instructions, enabling both passenger and freight traffic to operate reliably. By upgrading to a modern, radio-based network, Digirail supports market growth in rail transport while significantly reducing emissions. Its easily upgradable, digital platform paves the way for future technologies and allows dynamic traffic management across Finland’s rail network.
